All pupils in FCTA-owned primary schools will be enrolled in the FCT health insurance scheme at no cost, granting them free treatment across FCT health facilities.
This was revealed by Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, Mandate Secretary of Health Services, during a task force meeting on the upcoming introduction of the Measles/Rubella vaccine scheduled for October.
Fasawe urged parents to ensure children aged 9 months to 15 years receive the vaccine, noting that measles can cause brain damage and rubella may lead to blindness or deafness. She emphasized that both diseases are preventable.
She appealed to traditional, religious, and community leaders to spread awareness, stressing that the vaccine is safe, effective, and free.
Fasawe also announced the launch of a Telemedicine scheme in September to enable quicker medical consultations and reduce physical doctor-patient contact.
Additionally, she reminded residents that malaria testing and treatment are free at all FCT primary health care centers.
