The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Abuja Chapter, has called for urgent steps to protect planners and site officers following repeated assaults during enforcement duties in the FCT.
Chairperson TPL Queen Phillips made the appeal during a courtesy visit to AMMC Coordinator, Hon. Felix Obuah, stressing that such attacks threaten urban planning efforts and endanger professionals.
She commended AMMC for supporting planners and urged continued collaboration.
Obuah assured the delegation of his full backing, highlighting his ongoing support for professional training and staff welfare. “Even though I’m not a planner by profession, I’ve learned a lot through working closely with you all,” he said.
Director of Development Control, TPL Muktar Galadima, added that AMMC has introduced new policies, including stakeholder engagement and taskforce involvement, to reduce enforcement-related violence.
Senior AMMC officials were also present during the meeting.
