The National Assembly has postponed its plenary resumption from September 23 to October 7, 2025, extending the annual recess by two weeks.
Kamoru Ogunlana Esq., the Clerk of the Assembly, announced a new date in a statement on Tuesday. He clarified that while plenary sessions are on hold, committee activities will continue as planned.
He said the directive came from the presiding officers of both chambers, urging senators and House members to adjust their schedules. He also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change.
Although no official reason was given, sources within the Assembly hinted that the extension may be tied to preparations for Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration on October 1.
