FG to Relocate Cattle from Abuja City Centre to Grazing Reserves

The Federal Government says it is working with key stakeholders to speed up the relocation of cattle roaming the Abuja city centre into designated grazing reserves.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Dr Idi Maiha, made this known on Tuesday during the 2025 Media Retreat in Kaduna with the theme “Driving Livestock Growth through Strategic Communication.”

Maiha also revealed that the ministry will soon launch a national peace campaign to address farmer/herder conflicts across the country. He said the initiative will bring farmers, herders, organised groups and communities together to achieve lasting peace.

He added that the government recently held a meeting with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as part of efforts to move animals out of Abuja city centre and into grazing reserves.
