The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has neutralised the leader of a notorious armed robbery and kidnap gang that previously terrorised residents of Apo Resettlement in June.
Police sources confirmed that intelligence revealed the gang had re-entered Abuja through the Karshi forests after moving in from Nasarawa. Acting swiftly, operatives laid an ambush, leading to a gun battle in which the gang leader was killed.
The rest of the gang members escaped with gunshot injuries, and a manhunt is underway to track them down.
Police authorities assured residents that security agencies are intensifying surveillance along identified criminal hideouts and forest corridors to prevent further incursions.
