The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) is set to roll out a dedicated task force to crack down on touts and extortionists harassing motorists across the capital city.

Mr. Kingsley Madaki, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, announced the plan in response to a tragic incident at Mabushi, where a couple and two touts lost their lives. Madaki condemned the violence, offered condolences to the affected families, and clarified that the culprits were not AMAC employees or affiliates.

AMAC Chairman Mr. Christopher Maikalangu has ordered the immediate formation of the task force to hunt down and prosecute those posing as council officials while extorting drivers. “The chairman is determined to set up a tough team to nab these impostors,” Madaki said.

The task force will target notorious hotspots like Area 1 Roundabout, Area 2, Berger Underbridge, Jabi, and Banex. “We’ll track them down, haul them to a mobile court, and make sure they face justice fast. Offenders will land in Kuje Correctional Centre,” Madaki added.

The initiative aims to restore order and protect motorists from the growing menace of touts in Abuja.
