The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has busted a string of illegal operations in Abuja, nabbing local footballer Ikechukwu Elijah in Apo-Waru for running a hidden factory that churned out dangerous unregistered chemicals. Elijah, caught faking popular chemical and insecticide brands in a residential building, tried to dodge questions but later owned up to the scam.
In another swoop, NAFDAC sealed MZEE Table Water in Damangaza for producing packaged water in grimy conditions under a fake, expired license.
Following a tip, the agency also raided a shopping plaza across from the World Trade Centre on Constitution Avenue, confiscating fake rice, packaging materials, and sealing machines used to repackage major rice brands. The seized goods are valued at over ₦60 million.
NAFDAC vowed that all suspects will face court for breaking regulations
