A driver, Mr. Isaac Uguwu Anayo, was discovered deceased inside his Volkswagen pickup van (registration ARP 192XA) parked near a police checkpoint in Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. Eyewitnesses noted the vehicle had remained stationary for an extended period, prompting police officers to investigate. They found Anayo unresponsive, with foam emanating from his mouth.
Officers immediately contacted the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who transported Anayo to Abaji General Hospital. Medical staff pronounced him dead on arrival, and his remains were moved to the hospital’s morgue. Authorities used a phone recovered from the van to notify the deceased’s family.
The Abaji Police Division confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances of Anayo’s death. While no evidence of foul play was initially detected, the police indicated that an autopsy might be performed to determine the precise cause.
