Barr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), launched the construction of a multi-event sports centre in Kafe District. This initiative aims to unlock the potential of Nigerian youth and aligns with the President’s eight-point agenda for youth development.
Wike emphasized the need for top-notch facilities to nurture talent, citing Brazil’s success in sports. He described the centre as a “holistic” facility that will promote engagement, entrepreneurship, and healthy living.
The project is set for completion by June 2026, coinciding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary. This centre is part of a larger plan to establish multiple sports facilities across the FC
Wike also took a moment to honor the late Grace Adayilo, FCT Head of Service, who passed away on the same day.
Malam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, praised the initiative, noting its potential to create over three million jobs through grassroots sports development.
