The International Center for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) has organized a training session for Student Ambassadors and Project Support Lecturers of Bingham University aimed at empowering female students to resist and report sexual harassment in Nigerian universities.
The workshop, held on Friday, August 29, equipped participants with practical tools to identify, document, and challenge harassment, while promoting safer learning environments on campus.
ICIR explained that the initiative seeks to strengthen advocacy and accountability, enabling students—particularly women—to speak up and ensuring that institutions respond effectively to reported cases.
The training also highlighted the role of lecturers in providing mentorship and ensuring complaints are properly handled in line with university regulations and national laws.
According to ICIR, the program forms part of its broader campaign to build a culture of zero tolerance for sexual exploitation within Nigeria’s higher education system.
