A coordinated police raid has dismantled part of a kidnap syndicate terrorising the FCT, with two kingpins in custody and N7.4 million seized alongside a cache of weapons.

FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said ringleader Masud Abdullahi of Karu, Nasarawa State, and Muhammad Tahir from Jos were tracked down after the August 16 abduction of Henry Chichi from a Karu estate. The gang freed their victim unharmed a day later when operatives closed in.

Further investigations led officers into Karshi Forest in Nasarawa, where 22-year-old Kabiru Jibril was also arrested. Items recovered include three AK-47 rifles, a G3 rifle, 16 live rounds, cash totalling N7.4 million, and a mobile phone.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, applauded the swift breakthrough and vowed that remaining gang members on the run would be hunted down.
