Sowore, Activists Storm NYSC Headquarters Over Withheld Certificate
Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore on Tuesday led a demonstration at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, demanding the immediate release of a discharge certificate for Ushie Rita Uguamaye, widely known as “Raye.”
According to supporters, Raye had successfully completed all the mandatory requirements for the one-year national service but has yet to receive her certificate.
Sowore was accompanied by prominent rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, who represents Raye, along with other activists. The group accused the NYSC of unjustly withholding the document and called for urgent action.
They maintained that the delay undermines Raye’s career prospects, urging the NYSC to fulfill its duty without further excuses.
