Suspected Thief Nabbed While Attempting to Steal Water in Dutse
Residents of Dutse Obasanjo Road, near Mama Baby Street, were thrown into commotion on Sunday morning after a man was caught allegedly trying to cart away a discarded water drum in broad daylight.
The incident, which happened at about 11:30 a.m. on August 10, drew the attention of passersby and shop owners. Witnesses said the suspect had been spotted loitering in the area in recent days, apparently studying the property before making his move.
His attempt was cut short when he was caught red-handed wheeling the drum away. An angry crowd quickly descended on him, assaulting him before a few bystanders intervened to stop the beating.
The suspect, who sustained visible injuries, was eventually released. It is unclear if the matter has been reported to the authorities. Concerned residents are now calling for stronger community security to deter similar incidents.
