The FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) rescued two people from a burning Peugeot J5 bus after it collided with a heavy-duty vehicle along the Kubwa–Suleja road near Niger Barracks around 9:21 pm yesterday.

Head of Operations, Monday Adie, confirmed that the driver sustained fatal burns and died at the scene. His remains were handed over to his family for burial.

The bus, loaded with groundnuts, caught fire upon impact. One survivor was treated at Asokoro General Hospital but later discharged at the family’s request.

The rescue, which lasted until 1:30 am, involved FEMD, the FCT Fire Service, Nigerian Army, and FCT Police.

FEMD’s Acting DG, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, urged drivers to maintain their vehicles and drive cautiously. He also reminded residents to call the 112 emergency number in distress situations.
