A young man, Stephen Chidubem, was found dead on Wednesday in his home in Saburi 2, Abuja, in what authorities suspect to be suicide.

The incident occurred on Abba Street near the local Anglican Church. Emergency responders took his body to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead and later moved to the morgue for examination.

A handwritten note found at the scene revealed Chidubem had been dealing with a serious gambling addiction and heavy debts. In the message, he apologized to those he owed, including individuals named Elvis, Paul, and Bishop Andy Ero, and asked that ₦507,500 be paid on his behalf.

His death has raised fresh concerns about gambling addiction among Nigerian youths. Security analyst Zagazola Makama called for stronger mental health support and early intervention for those facing financial and emotional distress.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
