Tinubu Appoints Olumode Adeyemi as New Controller-General of Federal Fire Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the next head of the Federal Fire Service. His appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by Major General A.M. Jibril (Rtd.), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), who conveyed the President’s directive.

Olumode succeeds the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who is set to retire on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The incoming fire chief brings decades of field experience and administrative leadership, having progressed through the ranks since transferring from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service. Until his recent elevation, he served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service’s national headquarters.

According to the CDCFIB, Adeyemi has completed all essential in-service and leadership training, with additional courses both in Nigeria and abroad. He is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management.

The Board commended the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Jaji, for his exemplary leadership and contributions to the advancement of the Service, particularly in modernizing its operations and improving emergency response.
