The Secretary of the FCT Health and Environmental Services Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, says the Territory has recorded major improvements in healthcare over the past two years, largely driven by Minister Nyesom Wike’s leadership.
According to press her, the expansion of road networks has drastically reduced emergency response times. “A trip from Abaji to Asokoro Hospital that once took over an hour now takes just 20 minutes. That saves lives.”
She also praised the administration’s policy of free health insurance for pregnant women and their babies, including caesarean sections. “A woman who had a CS couldn’t believe there was no bill—she thought it was a mistake.”
Immunisation rates have surged as well from 35% to over 100%, with figures confirmed by the NCDC and WHO. “It’s been steady progress 70%, 85%, 100%, now 102%.”
Fasawe attributed the gains to focused leadership and a commitment to accessible, affordable, and sustainable healthcare in the FCT.
