The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has raised concerns over rising cases of vandalism targeting streetlights, water pipelines, and electric cables across Abuja.
Tpl. Obinna Nkwocha, Director of the Monitoring and Inspection Department, issued the warning during a routine inspection. He noted that despite significant investments by the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, criminals continue to damage public infrastructure, creating safety and financial concerns.
Nkwocha urged residents to report vandals and support efforts to maintain the city’s infrastructure. He also highlighted related issues such as refuse dumping, damaged pipelines, and the illegal activities of commercial motorcyclists in the city centre.
He assured that the department is working with relevant agencies to tackle these issues and preserve the aesthetics and functionality of the capital city.
