Vice President Kashim Shettima says the Tinubu administration is committed to not just building infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), but also rebuilding trust between the government and the people.
Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada, FCT.
“This government is ending the era of empty promises,” he said. “We’re not just constructing roads in the FCT — we’re restoring people’s faith in government. No community here is too small, and no concern is too minor.”
He described the road as a “corridor of dignity” for residents, especially market women, schoolchildren, and traders who use it daily.
“This project came from the people — from the grassroots — not from the top. This is the kind of democracy we believe in: one that listens, responds, and delivers,” he added.
Shettima also highlighted reforms underway in the FCT to expand revenue generation and improve schools, healthcare, and infrastructure across the territory.
He praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for what he called a result-driven leadership style. “Wike has proven that disruption, when channeled properly, can lead to real progress,” he said.
