An aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied claims that the Minister gave 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son.

Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, said the report was false and only meant to damage the Minister’s reputation.

In a statement on Thursday, Olayinka said, “Not even a single plot of land has been given to any of the Minister’s children.”

He criticized the report and those behind it, calling them “quack journalists” who do not understand proper journalism. “In today’s Maitama and Asokoro, where can anyone find 2,082 hectares of land to allocate?” he asked.

Olayinka challenged the publisher of the report to show proof that Wike’s children received any land.

He explained that the only land mentioned in the report belongs to a company called JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, which received land in Bwari Area Council for farming.

“Even though it is legal for the Minister or his family to own land in Nigeria if they follow due process, no land has been given to any of his children,” he added.

He said the land was meant only for agricultural use and that there was nothing wrong with a company getting land for farming.

He urged the public to ignore the false claims.
