French Institute: World Music Day, A Celebration of Musical Diversity
The French Institute of Nigeria brought excitement to Abuja last weekend as it hosted a lively concert to mark the 2025 World Music Day.
The event featured talented Abuja-based performers like Odenose, Jarell Ebuka, Cef Ashanta, and DJ Burna, who thrilled the crowd with energetic performances that lit up the night.
Speaking to the audience, Lucille Hadadd, Deputy Director of the French Institute, said the goal of the event was to encourage cultural exchange and support Nigerian artists. She praised the creativity and strength of Nigerian musicians, saying their music is an important part of the global music scene.
Hadadd said the concert was not just to entertain, but also to give Nigerian artists more chances to shine on international stages.
Singer Odenose thanked the French Institute, the French Embassy, and the Abuja crowd for embracing her unique music. She stressed the need for more live music events, which help artists connect better with fans and show different music styles.
Another performer, Jarell Ebuka, also thanked the French Embassy for the opportunity. He said more diverse performance spaces are needed from big stadiums to small cafés so both new and well-known artists can share their music in the right environment.
The concert was filled with energy and creativity, showing how cultural groups and local musicians can work together to grow Nigeria’s music industry and celebrate the spirit of World Music Day.
