Abuja, Nigeria – June 25, 2025

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has officially commissioned the newly constructed interchange bridges of Arterial Road N20, popularly known as Wole Soyinka Way, over the Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway) in Abuja.

The strategic infrastructure project, designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across major districts of the capital city, was unveiled in a ceremony attended by top government officials, engineers, and community leaders.

Speaking at the event, the FCT Minister commended the project’s timely completion and its potential to significantly enhance vehicular movement and urban development. “This interchange represents a major milestone in our commitment to modernize Abuja’s road network and provide safe, efficient transportation for residents and visitors alike,” the minister said.

The interchange, which links key arterial roads, is expected to facilitate smoother movement between various parts of the city while reducing travel time and improving overall road safety.
Named in honour of Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, the road underscores the FCT Administration’s dedication to honoring national icons while driving infrastructural development. The Murtala Mohammed Expressway, which intersects the new flyover, remains a critical route for commuters entering and exiting the city.
Residents and motorists have expressed optimism that the newly commissioned structure will help reduce perennial traffic bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours.
The commissioning is part of ongoing efforts by the FCTA to expand and modernize critical road infrastructure across the capital territory.
