Controversial activist and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), staged a protest at the gate of the FCT Minister’s office in Abuja on Monday, demanding an end to the over 90-day strike by primary school teachers.
The teachers have been on strike since March 24, 2025, over the non-payment of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage by Area Council Chairmen.

VDM, joined by uniformed schoolchildren, held a mock class at the protest site, teaching the alphabet with phrases like, “S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike.”
Responding to the protest, Bitrus Garki, Mandate Secretary of the Area Councils Services Secretariat, said the strike falls under the responsibility of the Area Councils but noted the FCT Administration has intervened several times.

He assured that the issue was being addressed through collaboration with the NUT, NULGE, NLC, and traditional rulers, though he could not give a timeline for resolution.
VDM gave the administration a one-week deadline to resolve the matter or face further protests. He also announced that the protest would continue the next day to address the ongoing strike by primary healthcare workers, who are also demanding the minimum wage.
“We’re not fighting Wike; we just want him to see this,” VDM said. “He might have forgotten while preparing for 2027. We’ll give them a week. If nothing changes, more students will join.”
