Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that Air Peace will launch direct flights from Abuja to London Heathrow Airport starting October 26, 2025.
Keyamo shared the news in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.
He described the move as a major breakthrough, highlighting that it is the result of sustained diplomatic efforts by the Federal Government to enforce fair treatment and reciprocity in international air travel agreements.
“This achievement is part of our push to ensure Nigerian airlines receive equal treatment abroad, just as foreign airlines operate freely within our airspace,” Keyamo stated.
The direct Abuja–London route is expected to boost international travel options for Nigerians, improve airline competition, and support the local aviation industry.
Air Peace currently operates a Lagos–London route, which has been well received since its launch earlier in the year. The addition of Abuja is seen as a strategic step to ease travel for passengers in the northern and central regions of the country.
