People living in Gidan Mangoro have thanked the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for bringing free healthcare to their community through its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers.

The village head, Alhaji Musa Magaji, showed his appreciation during the second round of the outreach in 2025. He said the NYSC has done something special. “Government has come before, but we’ve never seen anything like this. This NYSC outreach is different. God bless them,” he said.

He explained that the health programme came at the right time, as the community has only one small health centre that is already overcrowded.

Magaji praised the corps members for not only treating people but also teaching them about hygiene, good food, and how to prevent diseases.

During the outreach, residents received free medical checkups, treatment, and drugs.

The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, was represented by Dr Ahmed Ikaka, who said NYSC will continue to help rural communities with health programmes like this.
