Nigeria has formally invited Côte d’Ivoire to the maiden edition of the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), set to take place in Abuja from June 20 to 21, 2025.
Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Special Envoy, delivered the invitation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
The summit, according to officials, is designed to foster stronger economic ties, encourage regional investments, and promote collaborative solutions to shared development challenges across West African nations.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the summit as a “bold move to deepen regional economic integration,” adding that it will focus on key sectors such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and innovation.
President Ouattara expressed appreciation for the invitation and commended Nigeria’s leadership in championing regional economic development.
The WAES is expected to attract heads of state, top policymakers, private sector leaders, and international development partners, all converging in Abuja to chart a new course for West Africa’s economic future.
Preparations are in top gear as Abuja gears up to host what is being described as a landmark regional event.
