The Abuja Yoruba Community has officially announced the date for its 2025 Cultural Festival.
In a statement issued by the group, the festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, and will be held at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, located in Abuja’s Central Business District.
According to the organisers, the festival is aimed at bringing together Yoruba indigenes living in Abuja and surrounding areas to reconnect with their heritage, celebrate cultural richness, and promote unity, peace, and progress within the community.
Planned highlights include traditional drumming, music, and dance performances; authentic Yoruba cuisine and craft displays; fashion showcases; storytelling; and oral poetry (Ewi). Panel sessions will also explore topics such as Yoruba identity, youth engagement, and cultural diplomacy.
The event will feature a royal parade of Yoruba Obas and traditional leaders, as well as an award ceremony honouring individuals who have significantly contributed to the preservation and promotion of Yoruba culture.
The statement described the festival as a vibrant, family-oriented gathering designed to educate, entertain, and strengthen communal bonds. Business showcases, networking spaces, and promotional opportunities will also be available for partners and sponsors.
The organisers extended an open invitation to all Yoruba descendants, cultural lovers, businesses, media, and friends of the Yoruba people to take part in the historic celebration.
“It’s a chance to honour our heritage, celebrate our cultural pride, and shape a shared future grounded in tradition and identity,” the statement concluded.
