Two men have been arrested by local vigilantes in Gundun Karya, Kuje Area Council, for allegedly supplying goods to kidnappers hiding in a nearby forest.
A vigilante member, Danjuma Ishaku, said they were caught last Thursday around 5:48 p.m. while riding a motorcycle filled with food, cigarettes, and energy drinks.
The arrest happened after a tip-off linked them to a recent kidnapping of two villagers from Gundun Karya and Huni Gwari.
The men had bought the items in Gadabuke village.
Security officers and vigilantes followed them as they headed to the forest, near the border between the FCT and Nasarawa State.
“We already had information about them when they went to buy the items. They were caught before reaching the forest,” Ishaku said.
The suspects confessed that the kidnappers gave them N172,000 to buy the goods.
They were handed over to security agents and taken to Abuja for more investigation.
Just last week, armed men attacked Huni Gwari, killing two people and kidnapping a man and a woman. The kidnappers are said to be asking for N20 million as ransom.Attempts to contact the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were not successful, as calls went unanswered.
