The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a violent invasion of Efab Global Estate in the Idu Industrial Area of Abuja by a group of armed men, leaving several security guards injured and residents robbed.
The attack occurred around midnight on Wednesday, when over 20 gunmen reportedly stormed the estate, wielding machetes and firearms. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with sporadic gunfire used to instill fear and disable resistance. Five estate security personnel sustained machete wounds during the assault.
According to police reports, the assailants broke into at least six homes, carting away valuables including cash, mobile phones, jewelry, and electronic devices. In some instances, residents were allegedly forced at gunpoint to transfer money to designated bank accounts.
Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed that a tactical response team led by Area Commander Life Camp, ACP Harrison Oruruo, was dispatched immediately upon receiving the distress call. However, the attackers had fled before the team arrived.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has ordered a full investigation into the incident and assured residents of increased patrols and security presence in the area. He also urged estate managers and homeowners to strengthen internal security systems and thoroughly vet all domestic and security staff.
In collaboration with vigilante groups and community stakeholders, security measures around Efab Global Estate have been intensified. Residents are being encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police using the following emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653. Complaints can also be directed to the Command’s Response Unit at 08107314192.
The attack has raised concerns over recurring security breaches in Abuja estates, renewing calls for tighter surveillance and proactive community policing in the FCT.
