A new 24-hour mental health helpline dedicated to supporting young people has been launched in Abuja by a non-governmental organization in partnership with local and international health agencies.

The initiative aims to tackle the rising cases of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress among Nigerian youth, offering round-the-clock access to trained counselors and mental health professionals.

At the launch event, organizers highlighted the growing need for accessible mental health services, especially for young people struggling in silence due to stigma or lack of support.

The helpline, which is toll-free and confidential, provides immediate emotional assistance, crisis intervention, and referrals for further care.

Stakeholders praised the move as timely and called on government agencies, schools, and communities to collaborate in promoting mental wellness among Nigerian youth.
