
The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has inaugurated a seven-member Ministerial Committee to oversee preparations for the 2025 Hajj.
Speaking at the inauguration on Thursday in Abuja, Dr. Mahmoud urged members to demonstrate expertise, commitment, and uphold the welfare of FCT pilgrims. She emphasized that the Committee must ensure pilgrims embark on the sacred journey with dignity, care, and efficiency, guided by the pillars of efficiency, transparency and safety.
Their responsibilities include supervising all Hajj activities, ensuring compliance with Saudi regulations, prioritizing pilgrim welfare and safety, and submitting a detailed report with recommendations.
Committee Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Kauranmata, assured the Minister of their readiness, describing the assignment as a sacred trust. He called for collaboration with the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and pledged to make the FCT contingent a model for Hajj operations in Nigeria.
