Abuja-Keffi Road for Completion in June
The federal government has restated its commitment to completing the 43.65km Abuja-Keffi section of the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi dual carriageway by June 2026.
Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, after inspecting the site alongside other top officials, said the project—currently at 42% completion—is crucial for improving mobility and boosting economic activity across several states. He assured that funding will not hinder progress.
The road is part of the larger Abuja–Port Harcourt corridor and is being executed under a special funding arrangement.
Officials noted that key construction milestones, including site clearing and 80% of the stone base, are completed. To reduce disruption, night work is ongoing in high-traffic areas, with support from FRSC and law enforcement agencies.
The contractor, China Harbour Engineering Company, expressed readiness to deliver the project on schedule.
