The Federal Government has inaugurated a reform committee to revamp the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), aiming to align it with national development priorities and youth aspirations.
Announced by Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the initiative includes a review of the NYSC Act and the introduction of an optional two-year Medical Corps and Teacher Corps. These will deploy healthcare workers and educators to underserved rural communities.
The move, developed in consultation with key government officials, is part of a broader push to transform NYSC into a skills-focused, service-oriented platform for national growth.
