The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a warehouse in Suleja owned by Alhaji Ahmed for illegally selling monosodium glutamate (MSG) in bulk, a practice banned due to health risks.

During the enforcement operation, NAFDAC FCT Director, Kenneth Azikiwe, said the raid was ordered by the agency’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, to protect public health. Various counterfeit and unregistered items—including banned foreign spaghetti brands and fake toothpaste—were also seized from Suleja’s Ibrahim Babangida International Market.

Azikiwe explained that while MSG is permitted in small, regulated amounts, bulk sales to unregulated traders pose serious health dangers. “These additives are often repackaged with salt and sold in unsafe forms to consumers,” he warned.

NAFDAC valued the confiscated goods at ₦47.5 million and urged the public to avoid unregistered food items and always check for NAFDAC registration numbers.
