FCT Eyes Tourism Boom in Area Councils

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has announced a strategic plan to reposition the six area councils of the FCT as key tourism and investment destinations.

Speaking at the maiden edition of the FCT Area Councils’ Tourism and Hospitality Investment Carnival and Expo in Abuja, Dr Mahmoud emphasized the commitment of the FCT Administration to unlock the economic potential of these localities by promoting their cultural heritage and natural assets.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, Mrs Bunmi Olowookere, the minister described tourism as a powerful tool for economic growth, job creation, and community development.

“This event is designed to showcase and promote the rich investment opportunities that lie untapped within the area councils,” she said.
“We are laying the foundation for inclusive growth by leveraging tourism.”
