The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has carried out the destruction of 600 motorcycles impounded for operating in restricted areas across Abuja. The operation, which took place at the Area 1 Waste Management Site, is part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic regulations and ensure public safety.
According to the Director of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Dr. Abdulateef Bello, the motorcycles were confiscated during routine enforcement exercises targeting violators who continually flout the ban on commercial motorcycle operations in certain parts of the city.
Dr. Bello reiterated the administration’s commitment to maintaining order and curbing insecurity, often associated with the activities of commercial motorcyclists in restricted zones. He warned that similar operations would continue as part of broader efforts to sanitize the city and uphold the law.
