The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, on Thursday, picketed the offices of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in a protest against the growing hardship faced by workers in the territory.
The protest, led by union officials and backed by a large number of FCT workers, was aimed at drawing attention to unresolved labour grievances, including poor salaries, the non-implementation of the national minimum wage, and the failure to pay approved wage awards.

Chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards, the protesters blocked entrances to the FCTA secretariat, demanding immediate action from the administration to address their concerns.
According to the NLC FCT Chairperson, the ongoing economic challenges have made it increasingly difficult for workers to meet their basic needs. “We cannot continue to suffer in silence while what is due to us is withheld,” she said.

The union is urging the FCTA to urgently engage with labour representatives to resolve all outstanding issues, warning that failure to do so could lead to a broader industrial action.
