President Tinubu Returns to Nigeria Today
Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected back in Nigeria today after nearly two weeks abroad on a working visit.
His return was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return home today,” the post read, ending speculation about his return date.
The Presidency had earlier assured Nigerians that Tinubu remained fully involved in national matters throughout his trip. Last Thursday, Onanuga explained that the President had left Paris for London but stayed in constant contact with key government officials, including security chiefs, as the country faced new security challenges.
Tinubu left Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for Paris. The Presidency described the trip as a two-week working visit, aimed at reviewing his administration’s mid-term performance and assessing key policy goals.
However, his extended stay abroad sparked criticism from opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who questioned his absence amid worsening insecurity in Plateau and Benue states.
Despite public concerns, the Presidency insisted that governance continued without disruption, and the President would return as planned.
