Abuja, April 14, 2025 — The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has officially announced the recommencement of the regularisation process for Area Council land documents into statutory FCT land titles. This significant exercise, approved by the Honourable Minister of the FCT, is scheduled to kick off on April 21, 2025.

In a public notice issued by the Department of Land Administration, the FCTA emphasized that this exercise is intended for holders of Area Council land documents who have previously submitted their documents for regularisation. Successful applicants, after thorough vetting, will be offered the Statutory Right of Occupancy.

Applicants are reminded that they must comply with all stipulated requirements within sixty (60) days of receiving the offer, including:

  1. Collecting the Letter of Offer and accompanying Statutory Right of Occupancy bill (R-of-O) or Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bill.
  2. Settling all applicable bills, fees, rents, and charges.
  3. Submitting a duly completed Letter of Acceptance along with evidence of payment.

The notice also highlights that failure to meet these requirements within the specified sixty-day window will result in the automatic lapse of the offer. Additionally, any payments made outside the stipulated period will be considered invalid.

The FCTA stressed that this announcement is not an invitation for new applications or submissions, but strictly a continuation process for those who have already applied for regularisation.

This move is part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Administration to ensure proper documentation and security of land ownership within the territory.
