An Abuja Federal High Court has dismissed the no-case submission filed by former Commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, and four of his co-defendants.
The court ruled that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence for the accused persons to enter their defence, allowing the trial to proceed.
Abba Kyari and his co-defendants are facing charges brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), alleging their involvement in an international drug trafficking scheme.
During the hearing, Kyari’s legal team argued that the prosecution failed to establish a clear case against them, but the court disagreed. The judge held that the evidence presented so far was strong enough to require the defendants to respond to the allegations.
The trial is set to continue, with the defendants expected to open their defence at the next sitting.
