APC Director Killed in Abuja, National Secretariat Shut Down in Mourning
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shut down its National Secretariat in Abuja following the tragic killing of its Director of Administration, Lateef Adekunle Adeniji, who was abducted nearly two months ago.
Despite a ₦50 million ransom reportedly paid to secure his release, Adeniji was murdered by his abductors, sending shockwaves through the ruling party and raising renewed concerns over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation.
In response, the party announced a temporary closure of its headquarters until Monday, April 14, 2025, to observe a period of mourning for the slain official.
According to an internal memo signed by Deputy Director of Administration, Ubagba Abel, the directive was approved by the National Secretary and addressed to all staff members and party stakeholders. The memo read:
“Secretariat closure for the mourning of the Director of Administration – all the staff are advised to use the period of mourning for sober reflection and prayers for the family and the loved ones.”
Persecondnews recalls that Adeniji was kidnapped in Abuja nearly two months ago and tragically killed despite the ransom payment. His death has once again brought to the forefront the disturbing rise in high-profile kidnappings across Nigeria.
Among other recent cases is the abduction of a former Director General of the NYSC, Retired Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga, in Katsina State. These incidents have reignited public calls for urgent government intervention and the establishment of state policing — a policy proposal currently stalled in the National Assembly.
The APC is expected to issue an official statement in the coming days, while tributes continue to pour in for the late Adeniji, remembered as a dedicated and loyal member of the party’s administrative structure.
