Abuja, Nigeria – April 4, 2025

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted reports claiming he collapsed last week, labeling them as baseless and politically driven.

Speaking on Thursday after inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja, including the International Conference Centre, Wike assured Nigerians of his well-being. He described the rumors as the work of mischief makers attempting to create unnecessary panic and distract from his administration’s achievements.

“There is no truth to these reports. I am healthy, I am working, and I remain committed to delivering on my mandate,” Wike stated.

The Minister reiterated his focus on infrastructure development, highlighting ongoing projects aimed at improving the capital city. His administration has been pushing forward with key urban renewal projects, including road construction and public facility upgrades.

Observers suggest the rumors may have stemmed from political opponents seeking to undermine Wike’s credibility. However, the Minister reaffirmed his dedication to governance, urging the public to ignore false reports and focus on the progress being made in Abuja.

The spread of false health reports has become a recurring trend in Nigerian politics, often used to discredit officials. Supporters of Wike have dismissed the claims as propaganda, while others have called for transparency regarding the health of public officeholders.

As Wike continues his work in the FCT, all eyes remain on his administration’s efforts to fulfill its promises of infrastructural development and urban transformation.
