A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a significant ruling regarding the lawsuit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and three other defendants. The court has officially prohibited all parties involved from granting press interviews about the case.
This decision was made by Justice Binta Nyako on Friday, following a complaint from Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), the lawyer representing Akpabio. Ogunwumiju raised concerns that Akpoti-Uduaghan was actively engaging with the media, granting interviews to various television networks and discussing issues pertinent to the case that is currently pending in court.
In her ruling, Justice Nyako emphasized the need for confidentiality and fair proceedings, stating that there shall be no press interviews by any party or their legal representatives regarding the subject matter of the case. Furthermore, she also prohibited the live-streaming of court proceedings on social media platforms, reinforcing the court’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the judicial process. This ruling aims to ensure that the case is handled with the seriousness and discretion it deserves, free from external influence or media sensationalism.
