A heated dispute over a romantic relationship led to a violent clash between Fulani youths in Abuja, leaving two individuals injured. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Eyewitnesses reported that the conflict began when two young men, both claiming to be in a relationship with the same woman, engaged in a verbal altercation. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, drawing in friends and sympathizers from both sides.

According to local sources, the clash involved the use of sticks, knives, and other sharp objects. Residents had to intervene before the situation worsened.

The injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Security operatives, including officers from the Nigeria Police Force, arrived at the scene to restore order and prevent further violence.

Speaking on the incident, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the clash and assured that investigations are ongoing. “We have restored calm in the area, and those involved will be interrogated to determine the next course of action,” she said.

Some community leaders have condemned the violence, calling for peaceful conflict resolution among youths. “Disagreements should never lead to violence. We urge young people to settle disputes through dialogue rather than aggression,” said Alhaji Umar Bello, a local elder.

Authorities have advised residents to report any signs of tension to security agencies to prevent further unrest. As investigations continue, the police have vowed to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
