The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
In a notice on Monday, AEDC attributed the outage to a feeder fault. Affected areas include Utako, Wuye, Jabi, Airport, NJI, NARSDA, NABDA, Lugbe Shoprite, Riverpark Estate, War College, Dunamis, NIGCOMSAT, and Nigeria-Korea Model School. Others include Aso Drive, NSA, NASS, NJC, FJC, Supreme Court, Wubassy Barracks, Army War College, Mambila Barracks, and several military barracks.
“We regret to inform you that the power outage is due to a technical fault on the feeder serving these areas. Our team is working to restore power as soon as possible,” AEDC stated.
In February, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) also announced a blackout in Abuja. Maintenance was scheduled on the 2x100MVA TR3 & TR4 transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation on February 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The outage affected key areas, including National Hospital, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro. Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, and Apo Mechanic also faced seven-hour power cuts.
TCN Public Affairs GM, Ndidi Mbah, stated that the outage was necessary due to Abuja DisCo’s inability to receive bulk power supply during maintenance.
