FCTA Trains Teachers for WAEC’s Computer-Based Testing

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has conducted a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) training workshop for Senior Secondary School teachers across the six Area Councils of the FCT.

The initiative aims to enhance digital literacy and prepare public schools for WAEC’s transition to CBT. Speaking at the training, the Director/Secretary of the FCT Secondary Education Board, Dr. Sani Mohammed Ladan, emphasized the importance of equipping educators with the necessary skills to guide students through this transition.

Ladan noted that 88 Senior Secondary Schools were invited to participate, each nominating three teachers, leading to a total of 199 participants. The workshop covered key aspects such as CBT navigation, software functionality, and strategies for effective student preparation.

He described the training as a proactive step toward ensuring FCT schools are well-prepared for WAEC’s digital shift. The FCT Secondary Education Board remains committed to addressing resource gaps and organizing follow-up sessions to support continued learning.

Dr. Ladan reiterated the Board’s dedication to enhancing the knowledge of teachers, students, and non-academic staff, ultimately improving instructional quality. He commended the participants and ICT experts from various Education Secretariat departments for their commitment to the initiative.

Additionally, he called on ICT stakeholders to collaborate with the Board in expanding digital knowledge in schools. He also expressed gratitude to FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for providing ICT facilities, including laptops and tablets, to schools across the FCT.
