President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined thousands of Muslim faithful at the National Eid Prayer Ground in Abuja to observe the Eid-el-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Arriving shortly before 9 a.m., President Tinubu was warmly received by a congregation that included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and other top government officials. The President’s presence underscored the significance of unity and faith as Muslims across the country celebrated the festival.
Eid-el-Fitr, one of Islam’s most important celebrations, signifies the completion of a month-long fasting period filled with spiritual reflection, prayers, and acts of charity. The prayers, led by Chief Imam of the National Mosque, focused on peace, progress, and unity in Nigeria.
Following the prayer session, President Tinubu extended his goodwill to Nigerians, urging them to uphold the values of sacrifice, patience, and kindness practiced during Ramadan. He emphasized the need for continuous acts of charity and nation-building, encouraging citizens to work towards a prosperous and united Nigeria.
The President is scheduled to host a Sallah homage at the State House later today, where he will receive dignitaries, religious leaders, and members of the public as part of the celebration.
In his address after the prayers, Tinubu called on Nigerians to sustain the virtues instilled by Ramadan and not revert to past habits. He stressed the importance of fostering peace, love, and understanding among citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the country has been marked by prayers, feasting, and visits to loved ones, with security agencies ensuring peaceful observances nationwide.
