The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially commenced the payment of the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance to corps members across the country.
This follows the Federal Government’s promise to increase the stipend in line with the recent minimum wage adjustment. Corps members began receiving credit alerts reflecting the new amount, bringing relief after months of anticipation.
Confirming the development, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, assured that the new allowance structure is now in full effect and that any backlog payments will be settled accordingly.
Corps members have expressed excitement over the increment, which significantly boosts their financial support during their service year. Many took to social media to share their payment notifications and appreciation for the long-awaited implementation.
The payment of the ₦77,000 stipend marks a major milestone in the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of young graduates undergoing national service.
