ABUJA — The 2025 Abuja International Trade Fair is poised to be the largest in its history, with over 1,200 exhibitors from 32 countries confirmed to participate in the 14-day event scheduled to begin on April 10.

At a press briefing held yesterday at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) headquarters, the Chamber’s President, Dr. Victoria Adesanya, revealed that this year’s fair has attracted unprecedented interest from both local and international businesses.

“The remarkable increase in participation reflects growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy and Abuja’s strategic position as a commercial hub in West Africa,” Dr. Adesanya stated. “This year’s theme, ‘Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development,’ aligns with global economic trends and Nigeria’s diversification agenda.”

The trade fair, to be held at the newly expanded ACCI Exhibition Complex in Lugbe, will feature pavilions dedicated to various sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, information technology, renewable energy, and creative industries.

Notable among the international participants are business delegations from China, Turkey, India, South Africa, and several European countries. The fair will also showcase products and services from over 800 Nigerian businesses, representing all 36 states and the FCT.

Mohammed Bello, the FCT Minister of State, who attended the press briefing, emphasized the economic impact of the trade fair on the territory. “Beyond the immediate commercial activities, this event will generate significant revenue for hospitality, transportation, and other service sectors in Abuja, creating temporary employment for thousands of residents,” he said.

Small business owners in the FCT have expressed optimism about the opportunities presented by the fair. Mrs. Halima Usman, who owns a shea butter processing company in Gwagwalada, told The Capital Mirror, “This platform gives small producers like me access to international markets that would otherwise be difficult to reach.”

The organizers have introduced several innovations for this year’s event, including a digital matchmaking platform to connect buyers and sellers, as well as a dedicated startup village for emerging businesses.

Security arrangements have been enhanced for the fair, with the FCT Police Command working closely with other security agencies to ensure the safety of participants and visitors throughout the event.
