Hundreds of pupils at LEA Primary School, Kado Bmiko, Abuja, have been forced out of school due to worsening learning conditions, exposing the failure of authorities to address the decay in public education.

Established in 2009, the school now stands as a symbol of neglect, with leaking roofs and broken ceilings leaving pupils at the mercy of harsh weather.

Despite the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) allocating over N200 billion to education since 2023, schools like LEA Kado Bmiko remain in ruins.

Civic tech group MonITNG has slammed the authorities, calling their priorities misplaced.

“Education is a right, not a privilege. We urge FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Senator Ireti Kingibe to ensure the 2025 budget includes urgent renovations,” the group stated.

Parents and education advocates warn that unless swift action is taken, more children will abandon school, worsening the crisis of basic education in the FCT.
